Designed to overcome problems of glare from newly installed mill finished or stucco embossed aluminium roofs, RigiSystems' unique Micro-matt™ weathered finish replicates the appearance of a roof after it has been installed for a number of years and the natural weathering process has taken place.

Micro-matt™ weathered finish can be factory applied to any of RigiSystems' aluminium profiles.

Newly installed mill finish or stucco embossed aluminium can, in certain circumstances, cause problems with reflected sunlight creating glare. After a period of time, this problem disappears as the weathering process causes the naturally occurring oxide layer to thicken, which in turn causes the initial highly reflective surface to change with a natural dulling effect.

RigiSystems' Micro-matt™ weathered finish artificially ‘ages’ the profiles before installation, completely overcoming any problems associated with reflection.

The artificially aged surface changes to a naturally aged surface evenly and consistently over a period of four to eight years, depending on location and atmospheric conditions, without any severe or noticeable change being exhibited.

After this period, the behaviour of the roof is exactly the same as the original aluminium profiles, with no effect on performance or recyclability.

The table below shows that on average approximately 42% less light is reflected when Micro-matt™ is applied to the surface of a profiled aluminium sheet, compared to an uncoated sheet.
